How We Handle Your Data

Daniel Wong for Fort Bend County Judge Campaign (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates a campaign operations platform used to support campaign activities, voter outreach, volunteer coordination, and related campaign operations. This document explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you may have as a user or voter.
What We Collect
We collect two categories of data.
Account data — The email address you use to sign up, your name, your role within the campaign, and standard authentication metadata required to maintain a secure session, including IP address, user-agent information, and timestamps.
Campaign voter data — Voter files imported from vendors such as L2 or i360, along with annotations created by the campaign team, including walker notes, receptiveness scores, survey responses, and outreach history. This information is used for campaign operations and voter outreach.
How We Use It
We use your data to operate campaign activities, including authenticating users, displaying voter records, sending scheduled SMS and email communications, coordinating volunteers and block walks, recording outreach activity, and generating campaign reports.
We do not sell your data. Voter data is used only for legitimate campaign operations and outreach activities.
Mobile App Data Collection
The Daniel Wong for Fort Bend County Judge Campaign’s native iOS and Android apps may collect a limited amount of additional information with your explicit OS-level permission. We do not collect this information in the background unless specifically stated otherwise.
Location — Location information is used during an active block walk to identify the appropriate household, record activity that allows campaign managers to verify that a walk occurred, and associate survey submissions with the location where they were collected. Location tracking begins when you tap “Start walk” and stops when you tap “End walk.” We do not collect location at other times and do not request background-location permission.
Camera and photo library — Camera and photo-library access is used by the photo-op feature so candidates and authorized campaign users can take a photo with a supporter and send it to them via SMS, while recording the associated contact information against a voter record. Photos are stored in a private Supabase Storage bucket accessible only to authorized campaign users.
Push notification token — A push notification token may be registered with Apple’s and Google’s push notification services so the campaign can notify users about volunteer opportunities, walk assignments, and other campaign activities. We store an Expo push token and a stable device identifier generated locally and stored in your device’s secure storage so notifications associated with your account can be delivered to the appropriate device or devices.
You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device’s operating system settings. The mobile app does not collect contacts, microphone data, Bluetooth data, or information from device sensors beyond what is described above.
Data Access and Security
Campaign voter data is accessible only to authorized users associated with the Daniel Wong for Fort Bend County Judge Campaign. Access controls are enforced at the database level using Postgres Row-Level Security and at the application level through server-side authorization controls.
Administrative access to campaign information may be audit-logged for security and accountability purposes.
Service Providers
We rely on third-party service providers to operate portions of our campaign technology infrastructure. Each provider maintains its own privacy and security practices.
Supabase — Hosted Postgres database, authentication, and object storage.
Vercel — Web application hosting and infrastructure.
Stripe Connect — Payment processing for campaign contributions and related transactions, where applicable.
Twilio — SMS delivery for campaign communications and political outreach.
Resend — Email delivery for campaign communications and political outreach.
Anthropic — Natural-language voter query translation and related AI functionality. Prompts may be sent to Anthropic’s API; voter database rows are not sent as part of this functionality.
Consent and Outreach
For SMS outreach, the campaign maintains consent records where consent is required and records the source of that consent. We also maintain suppression records for SMS and email communications so contacts who opt out of a communication channel are not contacted again through that channel using our campaign platform.
Recipients may also follow the unsubscribe or opt-out instructions provided in individual campaign communications.
Your Rights
If you are a user of the campaign platform, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account by contacting the campaign using the information below.
If you are a voter whose contact information appears in campaign voter data, you may contact the Daniel Wong for Fort Bend County Judge Campaign with questions or requests regarding your information. We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.
Applicable rights may vary depending on your location and the laws governing the information involved.
Retention
We retain account information for as long as necessary to operate the campaign platform and for a limited period afterward where necessary for legal, security, recordkeeping, or compliance purposes.
Campaign voter data is retained for as long as reasonably necessary for campaign operations and applicable legal or regulatory requirements. Information may be deleted or archived when it is no longer required.
International Transfers
Our technology infrastructure is hosted primarily in the United States. If you access campaign services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy as our campaign operations, technology, or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date above will be updated whenever this document changes materially.
For substantive changes affecting registered platform users, we may provide additional notice through email, the platform, or another appropriate communication method.
